Blood Tests Issue 05.06.24 Posted or Updated on 11 Jun 2024

On Monday 3rd June Synnovis, who process blood test samples in SE London, was the victim of a ransomware cyber-attack.

The attack is having a significant impact on the delivery of services at Guy’s and St Thomas’, King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trusts and primary care service users in Bexley and the other SE boroughs.

The attack is affecting all pathology services, including phlebotomy and cervical screening.

Emergency care continues to be available, so patients should access services in the normal way by dialling 999 in an emergency and otherwise using 111, and patients should continue to attend appointments unless they are told otherwise.

All critical results continue to be phoned through to the relevant GP or clinical lead.

Synnovis has asked for patients to delay having non-urgent bloods taken until further notice and asked phlebotomy providers to cancel non-urgent appointments.
